"EXTREMELY HEAVY RESTORATION SAMPLE" A friend of mine found this oil portrait of her mother in the attic after she had passed away. The entire photo, including areas of complex detail, was covered with mildew, scratches, and deep scuffs with ground-in soil. Someone had written on it with ink, and there were faded places where it looked as though someone had tried to wash or erase it off. When they couldn't it looks as though they put it in the attic thinking it was forever ruined. This image took extensive restoration, pixel and color replacement, scratch repair, airbrushing and smoothing techniques to achieve the final image on the right. It's a shame that such a beautiful portrait laid in an attic for an untold number of years. Ethel Wilder...Her daughter said of her, and I think all who knew her would agree: ...she was a jewel from God! | |
