Gilbert's photo had a some erosion of image pixels, with a few blemishs but few on the important foreground areas, much of the background was missing, a fairly even color cast, and fading.
Restoration included pixel replacement, fade correction, and smoothing techniques, airbrushing, and enhancements to clarify the image to achieve the finished 8x10 printable quality image on the right.
